DESCRIPTION:Driftsouth has grown from a bunch of friends who enjoy modified cars to what it is today by no easy means. The road to being ‘accepted’ by MotorSport NZ and the racing community has been long and hard. But with the persistence and help of some keen drivers around the country and the likes of Kent & Ian Shrimpton – migrating from a racing family to Promotion and management team\, Drifting within NZ is now recognised as an official class of motorsport. The first Drift South series began in July 2006. With huge support from the Canterbury Car Club\, 5 drivers got together and formed the “Drift Committee”. The club backed the idea of the series and Drift South was born. Still part of the Canterbury Car Club championship\, Drift South has developed into one of the most entertaining and enjoyable Motor racing series in the South Island
